Promptly on the morning of October 7, the head of the Gaza Division’s southern brigade, Colonel Asaf Hamami, 41, observed aloud that the State of Israel was at war, and he set out immediately to defend the communities of the district along with two soldiers from his forward command post: his radio operator, Staff Sergeant Tomer Yaakov Ahimas; and Sergeant Kiril Brodski of Ramat Gan. In the area of Nirim, they battled dozens of terrorists and lost their lives. The three bodies were abducted to Gaza. May the men rest in peace.
