Sergeant First Class Yakir Bluchman would have been vacationing at the Sea of Galilee on that Saturday, but his family made an early return on Friday. When he heard of the terrorist attack, he drove immediately to the scene with fellow officers from the Segev Shalom police station. He was the only one of them licensed to drive the armored Caracal off-road vehicle, and together with the others he risked his life shuttling back and forth, under fire, to rescue civilians and police from the Re’im massacre site. After a number of rescues, the car was hit by an RPG and Sgt. 1st Class Bluchman was killed May he rest in peace.
