Eden Alon Levi was a 19-year-old Staff Sergent from Kibbutz Nirim, a Basic Training Squad Commander at the Zikim Homefront Rescue and Training Unit. She arrived at the guard post for guard duty along with one of her recruits. The majority of the 90 soldiers on base were new recruits, having been in the army for only two months at that point. When the terrorist attack began, she sent the recruit away to the base safety room and remained in her post with other staff members to protect the base.
In the fire exchange with the Hamas terrorists, six staff members and one recruit were killed, saving dozens of recruits and administrative personnel that were on the base. The terrorists failed to seize the base, while the two other bases in Zikim were taken. May she rest in peace.
