Reserve Brigadier General and former Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan, also a former Knesset member for Meretz, heard about the situation on Saturday morning, and immediately donned his old uniform and rushed from his home in Rosh Ha’ayin in Israel’s center to the south. While still at the southern command post, he received a message about young rave partiers hiding in an area swarming with terrorists near Kibbutz Rei’m, not far from his location. He immediately drove there to rescue them in his car. After delivering them safely to our forces, he started receiving additional requests for help from parents whose children had been at the rave, and he continued to risk his life, repeatedly driving into the danger zone alone. Thanks to his bravery and resourcefulness, he successfully extracted numerous young women and men from the area, saving their lives.
