In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023, Rami Davidian, a farmer from Moshav Patish in the northern Negev, received a call with a request to rescue a friend’s son from the massacre at the rave near Kibbutz Re’im. On the way to the rescue, he picked up other partiers fleeing to the orchards and groves, and with the help of other volunteers from the moshav, they set up a makeshift situation room and they drove hundreds of the party participants to safety in Moshav Patish. They engaged in the rescue operation around the clock, under fire, and without weapons or bullet-proof vests for protection.

In one case, he drove to rescue a young woman from five or six terrorists. When he finally reached her, the terrorists apparently took him for a member of the security forces, and after he attacked them with an agricultural implement, he successfully rescued the young woman from their grasp and escaped with her from the scene.

On that same Saturday, Rami lost his niece Ofir Davidian, an 18-year-old soldier from Moshav Patish, who was killed in the battle against the terrorists. Ofir’s father was also one of the rescuers in the improvised situation room Rami set up.
