Neta Epstein Sacrificed himself to save his loved one

Neta Epstein, 22, from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, lived with his partner Irine Shavit in a housing unit

in the kibbutz’s young neighborhood. When the rocket barrage began on Saturday morning,

they hurried into their safe room. But soon, terrorists broke into the Kibbutz and several of

them broke into the house through the window. They opened the safety room door and

called on the couple to come out, lobbing grenades into the room which didn’t hurt the two.

However, when the third grenade came rolling into the room, Neta threw himself on it to

save Irine and the terrorist shot him and immediately threw a fourth grenade into the room,

which started a fire. Irine was able to put out the fire and then hid under the bed behind the

body of her partner for long hours until she was rescued by the IDF forces at four o’clock. At

the age of 17, in 2008, Neta was an active member of the “Let Us Grow Up in Peace”

movement, which demanded peace for the Gaza environ residents. May he rest in peace.
