Upon learning of the breach of the barrier on October 7, 2023 and the suspicion that terrorists were heading toward nearby settlements, Major A., a company commander in the Maglan unit, drove of his own accord to Sderot to join the battle. On the way, he joined forces with a Border Police fighter, and when they came across two young women who were hiding, he gave them the keys to his car so that they could flee from the area. Major A. and the Border Police fighter who joined him combed the area in search of terrorists, located a terrorist squad and neutralized two of them. Major A. was shot by the terrorists in the arm and abdomen.
