On the morning of October 7, Superintendent Keter Zoran from the Israeli Police Yoav enforcement unit, noticed a pair of terrorists driving an Israeli security forces vehicle down highway 25 near the city of Netivot, and shooting at passing civilian cars. He managed to take out the two terrorists while on his motorcycle, after which he made his way to Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where alongside two civilians and an IDF officer, he bravely fought dozens of Hamas terrorists who swarmed into the kibbutz. He also provided first aid to the wounded civilians and fighters, under heavy fire. Following the battles in the kibbutz, he proceeded to the city of Sderot, where he joined the fight at the besieged police station.
