The Israel Defense and Security Forum (IDSF), representing more than 55,000 current and former military commanders, combat soldiers, and security professionals, has sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump expressing appreciation for his leadership and the actions taken against the Iranian regime, while warning against any future arrangement that could allow Tehran to recover militarily, economically, or regionally.
The letter is signed by Brig. Gen. (Res.) Erez Winner, Chairman of the Israel Defense and Security Forum (IDSF); Maj. Gen. (Res.) Gershon Hacohen; former senior Mossad officials holding the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General; and a number of other senior commanders from the Israel Defense Forces and Israel’s security establishment, collectively representing more than 55,000 members of the organization.
In the letter, the signatories emphasize that any future agreement or memorandum of understanding with Iran must be based on three fundamental principles:
First, the complete severance of ties between Iran and Hezbollah and the Lebanese arena. According to the signatories, the opportunity created in recent years to free Lebanon from Iranian domination is a strategic opportunity that must not be missed. Therefore, any future arrangement must guarantee the continued presence of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in southern Lebanon and preserve Israel’s operational freedom to prevent and eliminate Hezbollah threats.
Second, zero compromise on Iran’s nuclear program. IDSF calls for the removal of all enriched uranium stockpiles from Iranian territory – including uranium enriched to 60%, 20%, and 4% – the complete cessation of all uranium enrichment activities, the prevention of any reconstruction of damaged nuclear facilities, and the dismantling of the scientific and technical infrastructure supporting Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Third, maintaining maximum economic pressure on the Iranian regime. The letter stresses that any significant sanctions relief, release of frozen assets, or expansion of Iranian oil exports would enable the regime to channel resources toward rebuilding its missile capabilities, advancing its nuclear program, and financing terrorist organizations throughout the Middle East.
Drawing on their extensive operational and intelligence experience, the signatories write that Iran’s primary objective today is to rescue the regime from its deep economic crisis while preserving its ability to resume the development of nuclear weapons, missile production, and continued support for terrorist organizations in the future. They further warn that Tehran may interpret economic relief or a return to a policy of political concessions as a sign of Western weakness and a strategic victory for the regime.
“The path to regional stability does not lie in making concessions to Iran, but in standing firmly for the security interests of Israel and the free world. The Iranian regime must not be given an economic lifeline or an opportunity to rebuild its military capabilities. The separation between Iran and its proxies must be completed, Hezbollah must not be allowed to reestablish its threat along Israel’s northern border, and Iran must never again be permitted to threaten the region through a military nuclear program.”
